He’s angry, he’s unpredictable, he’s powerful, and he’s marrying his niece? House of the Dragon has provided us with one grade-A, certified toxic turn on in Daemon Targaryen, the rogue prince of Westeros. Ladies far and wide are loving this dark Romeo for such offbeat reasons (I’m ladies. It’s me.) I was so excited to sit down with a friend who is all about Daemon right now to chat about loving the taboo, desiring drama, getting pulled in by high stakes romance, and the intensity of emotion that comes with loving volatile people. All that and more!

My Book
The Recs
Here’s what to put in the queue if you liked the episode.
Something to Read: Caraval
This book self identifies as the literary personification of a Baz Luhrmann film. Caraval is a three book fantasy romance series (no chili peppers though, sorry folks) with such a vibrant and lush world to play around in. To me, it has all of the best parts of the Game of Thrones universe without the upsetting violence or misogyny: dark princes, breathtaking cities, an era removed from time, and dangerous liaisons.
Something to Watch: The Wheel of Time
If you love fantasy that relies heavily on fictional history, The Wheel of Time is a lot of fun. If you hate having to know a complicated timeline to understand what is going on, then it is a season in hell. This story is another example of a fantasy that has all of the delights of the Game of Thrones universe without the twisty scaries. The Wheel of Time has much more diversity and much fewer terrible wigs. Two out of five chili peppers.
Something to Listen to:Panic Prevention, Jamie T
If you’re loving Daemon’s masculine rage, head bang it out with Jamie T. Thick British accent included.
